Life Coaching

Life coaching provides a safe and confidential environment for you to explore aspirations you have or difficulties you may be experiencing.  It empowers you to find your own solutions and pathways as you set out to achieve your goals.  Life coaching can also be used in conjunction with clinical hypnotherapy.

Reflexology

Reflexology is a complementary therapy based on the belief that there are reflex areas in the feet and hands that are believed to correspond to all organs and parts of the body. Reflexology works on an individual basis and may alleviate and improve symptoms such as everyday stress and tension.

During a typical reflexology session, I will take a detailed medical history followed by a full treatment.  Sessions are performed on a comfortable treatment couch.  You will be asked to remove footwear and socks.  I will make a visual and tactile examination of your feet before beginning precise reflexology massage movements.  The particular types of movements involved require the application of an appropriate pressure using my thumbs and fingers.

Reflexology can be a wonderfully relaxing experience where you can take time out from everyday pressures.  My expert touch will help you relax which can improve mood, aid sleep and relieve tension.  The result is an overall sense of wellbeing.

If you would like to know more about reflexology, this video, produced by the AoR, provides a short introduction.

Julia Farrimond of Rainbow Complementary Therapies is also available to offer Thai Head Massage and Reiki.

Thai Head Massage

Thai Head Massage is a versatile treatment that can be performed almost anywhere and on anyone. Thai medicine in its original form is taught and practiced today just as it was 2,500 years ago. It has been passed down the line by Buddhist monks and it includes massage, herbs and medication. The benefits are numerous, tension and stress can be relieved and there is a great feeling of well being.

Reiki

Treatment with Reiki energy is said to help re-balance the whole person in mind, body and spirir and is a non-invasive holistic therapy. Potential benefits of Reiki are believed to include: deep relation, relieving symptoms of stress and tension; reduced fatigue; a positive impact on mood and performance; a general sense of good health and well-being.

The first part of the massage uses a variety of massage techniques without oil or lotion. Then the marmas are worked with a warm herb infused tridoshic oil. Tridoshic oil may help to rebalance whichever dosha is in excess. The doshas (vāta, pitta and kapha) are patterns in the Āyurvedic tradition used to describe a person’s constitution in terms of physical, emotional and mental characteristics.

Finally, the face is gently massaged using the oil and a bronze kasa wand, a kasa bowl with a wooden handle. Traditionally, kasa bowls are used in Āyurvedic massage to help remove excess heat and toxins and to reinforce the beneficial effects of massage strokes and marma work. The wand is smaller than the bowl used on the body and the feet. The wooden handle allows it to easily be applied to the face.

The treatment involves working over the scalp, neck and ears as well as the face. Please bear this in mind when booking a session. More oil can be used on the scalp if you want to keep the oil in the hair for a few hours before shampooing, leaving the hair beautifully smooth and silky.
Because we are working the face and head, this treatment may help with localised issues such as headaches, insomnia, sinus congestion and facial muscle restrictions, for example with Bell's Palsy. Its deeply relaxing effects may be particularly helpful in alleviating stress.

Āyurvedic Face Reflexology & Massage

Āyurvedic Face Reflexology & Massage is used by those with localised head and face issues and for cosmetic purposes as well as for wider-reaching effects.

The treatment is based on the premise that the body is reflected in the face and on the potentially powerful effect of working marmas to help rebalance body systems. These are vital energy points from the Āyurvedic tradition said to be infused with prāna and connected to very fine energy channels throughout the body. The techniques also aim to free constrictions and tension in the facial muscles and connective tissue, helping to smooth out expression lines and improve circulation of blood and lymph.

The treatment provides complete relaxation so the body’s innate healing and rejuvenating powers can come into play.
